The mission of Lenoir City Schools is to create a positive educational environment of mutual respect where each student shall discover opportunities to develop necessary skills and attitudes to perform at a level of personal excellence in the twenty-first century.

The Lenoir City School System was organized in 1907 and has been a separate school system since the city was chartered.  It consists of an elementary school, a middle school, a high school and the administrative office, all SACS accredited.  Lenoir City Schools can be found within the great valley of East Tennessee just fifteen minutes west of Knoxville.

The citizens of Lenoir City take great pride in their school system and have made a commitment toward excellence.  The elementary facility was built in 1987 and has received the School Architectural Award of Tennessee.  The middle school was constructed in 1990 and won the Tennessee State School Board Association (TSBA) School of the Year Award.  The high school was renovated and enlarged in 1999 and has developed into a state-of-the-art facility.

Through a strong academic program, progressive use of technology, commitment to the arts, expanded career awareness, competitive athletic programs and active participation in the Loudon County Education Foundation, the Lenoir City Schools are committed to building Lenoir City’s future one student at a time.

Programs and services provided by Lenoir City Schools include: a continuum of special education services to address individual needs, school psychologists, guidance counselors, mental health coordinator, English Language Learner (ELL) teachers and translators, adult education programs, medical clinics staffed by licensed RN and LPN personnel, and parent and community volunteer programs.

The Lenoir City Family Resource Center is located next the elementary school.  The Family Resource Center is dedicated to the concept of non-threatening assistance to families and children in learning about and accessing services available to them.  To that end it will provide information, informal counseling, support of existing programs and their expansions where appropriate and, if needed, the actual development of specific programs. Parenting classes and home visitation programs are offered throughout the year.

The school psychology internship at Lenoir City Schools provides a continuum of experiences including assessment, consultation, observation, interviewing, report writing, small group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and parenting classes.  Experiences are available across the ranges of child development from birth to three programs through high school.  Interns are encouraged to develop independent as well as collaborative skills for working in schools.

Supervision is considered an important component of the overall internship program.  Each full-time intern receives two hours of individual one-to-one supervision from doctoral level licensed psychologists on a weekly basis.  All interns in the Consortium will receive two hours per week of group supervision from a licensed psychologist.

It is possible for the intern to receive up to 3 hours a semester of graduate internship credit through the University of Tennessee.  The Consortium conducts the two hours per week of group supervision in such a manner that it meets the University’s requirements for graduate credit.  If an intern is interested in receiving graduate credit for this time, she or he needs to make an arrangement directly with the University.  Requesting graduate credit for the group supervision is not required of the intern.  This is simply an additional benefit to the intern if it is of value for her or him.

Lenoir City Schools does not anticipate any intership positions for the 2010-2011 internship year.
